San Culpa

Many committed practitioners of yoga chose to make a positive affirmation at the beginning or the end of their personal practice. The words are meaningful to the individual and often take the form of a prayer or a heart-felt wish arising out of love and compassion. This practice is called 'San Culpa'.

I am a Yogi,
I have definitely chosen this path,
I affirm my commitment to living and loving in yoga,
This is my San Culpa

Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti, Om
May there be peace and peace and peace

As a teacher of yoga may I always know the most powerful honesty,
May I hold it in my heart and teach only when I am connected to it.

May I always teach this yoga, this oh so powerful world view
Exactly as I have learned it, lived it and experienced it.

May I be humble enough never to teach an idea that has occurred in my mind,
Or a posture I have learned in a book,
But only that which I have grounded in the reality of my daily practice.

May I only make claims about yoga that are coming from my own experience,
From my deep centre - from my sacred heart
And at all costs may I always be true to my heart and to yoga.

Om Namo Bhagavade Vasudevia
Om is the name of that inside me which is aware of the unity of all.
